At RISE Online Academy New Mexico, middle school students get the independence they crave with the support they still need. Our program recognizes that these transitional years require both academic challenge and guidance with life challenges, all while honoring your family’s unique needs and schedule.
Curriculum and Courses
Our middle school curriculum is aligned to New Mexico standards and designed to prepare students for high school success while engaging their developing interests and capabilities.
- Core Subjects — Advanced Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies with increased depth and complexity
- Elective Opportunities — Exploration of interests through specialty classes and enrichment options
- Daily Homeroom — Community building and peer connection with teacher and classmates
- Friday Live Learning — Weekly collaborative learning experiences and interest-based activities
Students work with greater independence while receiving targeted support from teachers. Learning includes research projects, collaborative assignments, presentations, and real-world applications that prepare them for high school-level work.
Day in the Life
Middle schoolers thrive with flexible schedules that respect their changing sleep patterns, growing independence, and busy family lives. We offer several blocks throughout the day to keep your middle schooler on track, and you fill in the rest of the day with coursework and activities.

Other Requirements
Middle school students participate in all required New Mexico state assessments with comprehensive preparation and support. Testing takes place at convenient local locations with advance notice.
Students demonstrate engagement through participation in homeroom, completion of coursework, interaction with teachers and peers, and progress toward learning goals. We understand that middle schoolers show their learning in diverse ways and honor different learning styles and personalities.
